ELiZA WREN’s own brand of melodic, dream pop/rock includes banjo, electric mandolin, guitar, toy piano and delicate vocals around a wall of drums and bass. She also has a collection of more personal acoustic tracks that prove that she is “seasoned beyond her years” as described in the Austin Chronicle.
Eliza may be best known for her alternate rock score to the 1985 film, Return to Oz in her answer to Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Rainbow.
The album and performance premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, UT and the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, TX. Called “the Mona Lisa of our time” and “mind-blowing”, this double album ranges from avant-garde instrumental to “can’t get it out of my head” pop and everything in between yet still manages to tell a cohesive, moving story. Wren’s work has been recorded/released by producers: Jim Eno (Spoon, Public Hifi Studios), John French (Switched On Austin, Answering Machine Recordings), Hyrum Summerhays (Audiospace, Eden’s Watchtower Records) to name a few.
The songbird has had a global career from the Olympic Winter Games to welcoming the president of Iceland, but her heart is in Austin TX where she was nicknamed, “Austin’s Songbird” and quoted as “the best thing at SXSW” and “a gorgeous addition to the ever-expanding soundscape of these complex times” – Wayne Alan Brenner.
